Rocky Scott Manning, 60, of Moorhead, died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at U of M Medical Center – Fairview in Minneapolis, MN.
Rocky was born March 28, 1956 to Bud and Thelma Manning in Thief River Falls, MN. He grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls. He attended college in Fergus Falls for Addiction Counseling and worked in counseling for two years in the area. He also worked at Marvin Windows, and was a Cenex truck driver for about five years. Additionally, Rocky worked at Trans Systems for eight years and finally Aggregate Gravel until his retirement.
Rocky was very active in A.A.; he was always just a phone call away. By trying to live the program and passing it on, he was an inspiration to many, and in doing so, touched many lives, and now he can live on through them.
Rocky received a double lung transplant on 3/12/2014 which he said was a gift from God. He named his new lungs Ray; he said the name just came to him! He had a wonderful year and a half but the last six months with rejection was trying. He fought the good fight as long as he could. He was so grateful for the donor. Rocky couldn’t donate other than his corneas so he hoped they could be used.
Rocky enjoyed ice fishing, camping, classic cars, riding his Harley, and building gas bikes when he could no longer ride.
He is survived by his life partner, Becky Harmon, Moorhead, MN; children, Nickole (Franko) Trudeau, Thief River Falls, MN, Chad (Sandy) Manning, Parker, CO, Chris (Char) Manning, Thief River Falls, MN and Jamie Harmon, Moorhead, MN; brothers, Duane (Dee) Manning and Jerry (Beth) Manning; sisters, Shirley (special friend, Bob) Porter, Yvonne Suronen, Peggy Clow; nine grandchildren, Jade, Gavin, Braxton, Kaleb, Conner, Blayke, Rylee, Elijah and Adrian; and many nieces and nephews.
