Roberta (Tait) Lovell, 81, of Pelican Rapids, MN, and Peoria, AZ, passed away on June 14, 2023, in Chanhassen, MN, surrounded by her family.

She was born on April 28, 1942, in Fargo, ND, to Harold and Barbara Tait. Roberta graduated from Fargo Central High School, attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and later received her degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota in 1965.

Roberta met Jerry in 1959 at a gathering at Pelican Lake. They were married on September 2, 1966. They settled in Fargo, eventually moving in across the street from her parents on 7th St. Most summer weekends were spent at the cabins on Lake Melissa and later on Pelican Lake. In 2008 Roberta "convinced" Jerry it was time to retire when she bought a home in Westbrook Village in Peoria, AZ. They became snowbirds, splitting time between Pelican Lake and Arizona. They were married for 48 years before Jerry passed away in 2015.

Roberta worked as an Occupational Therapist in a variety of settings around Fargo, finishing her career at Bethany Homes. She always cherished the life lessons and knowledge that her older patients would give her - and would often bring her children in to meet her patients.

She loved her children and grandchildren and found joy in cheering them on in all of their sports and activities. She was always willing to make a batch of "Grandma's Hot Fudge" for dessert. Roberta treasured spending time with friends - whether it was playing games, hosting or attending parties, traveling, shopping, dining out, or just chatting- all while "Run-n-Late" in her Red Prius.

She spent many hours with the women of her Bridge Club, although we always wondered if any bridge was being played during those gatherings. She traveled to national bridge tournaments with friends and earned her Life Master status. She would often tell us that "The World's greatest minds play bridge" after playing in the same tournament with Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.

She enjoyed playing MahJong, tennis and later took up golf at the age of 40. All of her activities were done with her good friends around her and usually included a glass of Chardonnay- with ice!

Roberta is survived by her sons, Steve (Kara) Lovell of Golden Valley, MN, Jeff (Stacey) Lovell of Edina, MN; daughter, Jill (Eric) Englund of Chanhassen, MN; and brother, Craig Tait of Pelican Rapids, MN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Reese, Peyton, Tait, Mason, Ollie, and Hudson. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents, Harold and Barbara Tait; and her brother, Brad Tait.

A service will be held on July 14 at 1:00 pm at Cormorant Lutheran Church, with interment at Cormorant Cemetery immediately following the ceremony. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 pm at Fair Hills Resort on Pelican Lake.

Memorials can be made on behalf of Roberta to the Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota to help fight Alzheimer's Disease through research and support programs.
