Robert E. Stewart, 83, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND. Robert Ellis Stewart was born December 11, 1923, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Frank and Mary (Aitken) Stewart. He lived in various places in the Midwest and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 – 1946. On March 15, 1946, Bob married Virginia Wheat in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1950, and worked as an electrical engineer in DesMoines, Omaha and Minneapolis, before moving to Fargo in 1965. He retired from Dakota Electric Supply Company in 1981, and he and a partner founded Electric Utility Supply Company. After retiring again in 1993, he did volunteer work for United Blood Services and S.C.O.R.E. He was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Fargo. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia; son, Jeff (Margaret) Stewart, Apple Valley, MN; daughter, Beth (Jerry) verDorn, Sparta, NJ; four grandchildren, Anne and Elizabeth Stewart; Jacob and Peter verDorn; and two half-sisters, Sherry Allred, Benton, KS; and Debbie (Ron) McLaughlin, Towanda, KS. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2007, at 11:00 A.M, at Faith United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Burial will be in Prairieville Cemetery, Marshalltown, IA, at a later date.
