Robert Paul Schumacher passed away of heart failure on July 1, 2017. He was the first son of Linda and Dr. Kevin Schumacher and was born on December 15, 1982 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is survived by his parents; sister, Kristin Nelson, her husband Nicholas and their daughter Alexandra of Fargo; his sister, Lacy Schumacher and her husband Greg Lindberg of Minneapolis; brother, Kevin Philip Schumacher and his partner Ashli Carlson of Minneapolis; Grandfather, Paul Schumacher of Selmer, Tennessee and by Grandfather, Robert Minnis of Idaho. He loved his grandmothers, Dorothy Moore Minnis and Ellen Schumacher, who both passed before him.
Robert cherished animals, bonfires, rock music, and Star Wars. He was brave enough to force his father to tour the Soudan Underground Mine even when dad was afraid to, and he loved his road trips to Lake Superior, Ohio and Tennessee. Robert favored live concerts and driving the yard tractor around the pasture. He never stopped asking questions about nature, the environment and Grandpa Paul’s experiences in WW II. He fought his Tourette’s Syndrome, depression and anxiety every day he lived and without knowing, showed all of us what it meant to go forward when the obstacles were too many and too large.
It’s warm here today Rob, with those big fluffy white and gray cumulus clouds you loved to admire. Your pasture is green and your dogs are fed. Go son, you go on now.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are appreciated to CCRI (creativecare.org), in appreciation for their years of care, or to Cats Cradle at catscradleshelter.org where Rob loved to play with the cats.
