Robert C. Olslund

Robert C. Olslund of Fargo, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.

Robert (Bob) Olslund was born March 15, 1924 in Fargo to Orley and Lola Olslund. Bob attended North Dakota Agricultural College (NDSU) before entering the Navy in 1942, serving for three years.
On March 1, 1948, Bob married Eleanore G. Olson in Portland, ND. Bob and Elly made their home in Fargo and later in West Fargo, ND. Bob was the superintendent of Children’s Village in Fargo from 1949 to 1956. In 1957, he and Elly purchased Hintz Fire Equipment. They owned the company for 29 years before retiring in 1986.

Bob and Elly spent their winters in Arizona and summers on Wall Lake near Fergus Falls, MN, and in Detroit Lakes, MN. Bob served with the West Fargo Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 year and also of the Dilworth VFW Post 1223.

Bob is survived by his wife, Elly; sons, Steven (Leanne) of Fargo and Bradley (Sherry) of West Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gayland, and daughter, Rebecca Saunders.
