Robert A. Koshnick was born December 6, 1918, in Ontario, Oregon, to Otto and Stella (Alexander) Koshnick. At age one, he traveled to Frazee, Minnesota, to live with his extended maternal family after his mother died in the 1919 influenza epidemic. He lived happily in Frazee with the Alexander clan on the family farm. He met the love of his life, Betty Christensen, as an upperclassman guide for the freshman orientation tour at Moorhead State College in September 1940. Betty and Bob were married in Wilmington, North Carolina, on September 12, 1942. For the next five years, during WWII, they lived in several places around the USA while Bob completed and became an instructor in officer training school. Later, Bob was stationed in France. After the war, he finished his degree in Business at North Dakota State University in 1947. Bob worked 20 years for General Mills and then started an impressive 16 year career in real estate in 1967. Their love of travel, over the years, led Bob and his wife to Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. In September 2007, his three beloved children arranged a special day for family and friends to celebrate with Bob and Betty their 65th wedding anniversary. Family and friends knew his as a great listener, hard worker, always in good spirits, sensitive but tough, intelligent and an independent thinker, likable, realist, fair, spiritual, gentle true spirit and a truly dedicated family man. Bob took the “great journey” on March 8, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Betty, Fargo, ND; three children, Robert Jr. (Loxley) Koshnick, Detroit Lakes, MN; Andrea Koshnick, Medford, OR; and Will (Kate) Koshnick, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Becky, Nicholas, Donna (Ryan) Lindley; Damian and Kali (Brian) Jones; and three great-grandchildren, Samuel and Timothy Lindley and Tallulah Jones. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Visitation: Friday, March 14, 2008, from 4-6 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Private Funeral Service will be held.
