Robert J. Knight, 82 of Fargo, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo.
Bob was born May 19, 1934 in Minot, ND, where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from St. Leo’s Catholic High School and went on to join the US Army, where he became a medic and also played on the Army baseball team. He was united in marriage to Patty Teberg at St. Leo’s Catholic Church on December 30, 1961.
Bob was a legendary salesman in the plumbing and heating industry and his customers were like family to him. He worked for over 60 years, retiring after his 80th birthday.
He will be remembered for his big heart and his empathy for others. Bob diligently prayed every night, always for others first before himself. He was a proud father who loved spending time with his children and enjoyed coaching little league. An avid sports fan, Bob loved golf, baseball and fast pitch softball. He looked forward to the annual family fishing trip to Rainy Lake, Ontario and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Debra) Knight of Fargo, Mark Knight of Fargo, John (Amy) Knight of Northfield, MN, and Stephanie (Tom) Astrup of Fargo; half-brothers, Ron and Jim; and grandchildren, Adam, Austin, Taylor, Alex, Madeline, Kalley, Kendall, Emma, Harrison, and Nolan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A special thanks to the staff of Bethany on 42nd and Cottonwood Court for making Robert feel at home and for being an extended family to all of us.
