Robert (Bob) Jay Shook, 66, of Fargo, ND, a faithful servant of God, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
Robert Jay Shook was born on October 7, 1952, the son of Lester D. and Ann E. (Bergeson) Shook in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Fargo South High School, completed a Bachelor of Science degree at North Dakota State University in 1975, and received an MD degree in 1979 from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. Robert married Susan Ann Krein on December 20, 1980 in Fargo, ND. He finished his radiology residency in Iowa City, IA in 1983 and joined his father and brother as a radiologist with Radiologists Ltd./Independent Radiology in Fargo. In 2010, he became a member of the radiology team at MeritCare (now Sanford), where he worked until his passing.
Bob was a track athlete in high school and college, enjoyed playing trumpet in several groups, and was an active member in many community organizations including the Fargo Theater Big Band All Stars, Bison Arts, and the FBC tailgating group. His love of athletics is reflected in his creation of the NDSU Development Foundation Robert Shook Track Endowment Fund, offering student athletic scholarships.
Bob’s greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family and grandchildren. He enjoyed all things golf, Bison athletics, bike rides, sailing and boat rides at the lake, family game nights, ancestry/genealogy, wood turning, traveling, reading, listening to great music, dancing, and holding hands with his wife, the love of his life. As a member of Hope Lutheran Church, he joyfully worshiped the Lord and enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship. Bob will be remembered as a kind, wise, devoted, and selfless family man and friend.
Robert’s legacy lives on through his wife, Susan, three children, Janina (Vincent) Silvestri, Baltic, CT; Jayten (Kristin Kendall) Shook, Bemidji, MN; Sueky (Brandon) Moeller, Pipestone, MN; and four grandchildren with a fifth on the way, Quinn and Ivy Silvestri; Eli and Isaac Shook; Baby Moeller due August 7. He is also survived by three siblings, Dale (Mona) Shook, Fargo, ND; Richard Shook, Niantic, CT; Betsy (Al) Baker, Fargo, ND.
