Robert Beightol, 78, of West Fargo, ND, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, in his home under the care of family and hospice. Robert Burdette Beightol was born in Webster City, Iowa, on April 17, 1929, son of Ward and Grace (Townsend) Beightol. He served five years in the U.S. Navy as a cryptographer. He was stationed in Atsugi, Japan, during the Korean conflict. Bob married Janet Jourdan on December 6, 1951, in Omaha, Nebraska. He worked for Mutual of Omaha as a programming and systems specialist. They moved to Fargo in 1967, where he worked for IMT, Midco Data Systems and ESS. He retired in 1991. He was a member of AMS, Fargo Exchange Club, VFW and advisor for Junior Achievement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed spending time gardening and at the lake. He was a bass in the Grace Lutheran choir and held several church offices. Robert is survived by his wife, Janet, West Fargo, ND; his son, Larry (Linda) Beightol, Colorado Springs, CO; his daughter, Laurie (Dr. Thomas) Weekly, Gilbert AZ; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Goetz; parents, Grace and Ward Beightol; four brothers and one sister. Funeral Service: Monday, August 20, 2007, at 10 AM, at Grace Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Sunday, August 19, 2007, from 5-7 PM, at the church.
