Robert W. “Bob” Anderson, 64, of Fargo, ND, passed away in the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare on Saturday, October 10, 2009, after a seven month battle with cancer. Bob was born February 7, 1945, to Warren “Bud” and Barbara Jean (Beals) Anderson in Fargo, North Dakota. He attended Fargo schools and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1963. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1969. While attending college, he was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He served in the Army Reserves from 1967 until 1974. During college, he worked many summers for the Schultz and Lindsay Construction Company in several different states. On June 3, 1967, he married Phyllis Koester at the Sabin Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived in Fargo until December of 1969 and then moved to Minneapolis where Bob took a job with the Minnesota Highway Department. In January of 1976, Bob and Phyllis returned to Fargo where he became Vice-President of Olaf Anderson & Son Construction Company, a company started by his grandfather in 1913. On January 1, 1996, he became President and retired December of 2005. He continued to work part-time. Bob was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was a past president of the church council. He was a member of Kiwanis, past chairman of the Fargo Airport Authority, NRI Board, North Dakota State University Development Foundation, Team Makers and served on many regional and national steel builder’s advisory councils. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed snowmobiling, downhill skiing, traveling, bridge and especially spending time at the family lake home. Bob is survived by his wife, Phyllis; son, Troy, Fargo, ND; daughter, Karlyn (Rob) Nosbusch; granddaughter, Alexis Nosbusch; grandson, Jake Nosbusch, all of Clive, IA; sister, Karen (Ken) Olson, Fargo, ND; brother, David Anderson, Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, John Pavlakovich, Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Arlene Ready, Rapid City, SD; brother-in-law, Richard (Pat) Koester, Sabin, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nancy Jo Pavlakovich; in-laws, Frieda and Ray Koester; brother-in-law, Bill Ready; and niece, Dawn Kohlmeyer. Memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Foundation, Roger Maris Cancer Center or the Robert W. Anderson Fund for the Championship Putting Green being built in his honor.
