Rita L. Bergo died peacefully Thursday morning, June 10, of heart complications in Denver, Colorado, at the home of her daughter, Cassandra, and son-in-law, Dennis Valdez. Rita Bergh was born on February 9, 1940, to Ruben Bergh, mother unknown, in Pierre, South Dakota. In 1942, she moved to Comstock, Minnesota, and the next year to Fargo, North Dakota, where she attended grade school and junior high school. She graduated from Central High School in 1958. She met Gordon Bergo in February 1959 at Interstate Business College in Fargo, and after a year and a half of courtship they were married on May 21, 1960. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The love of Rita’s life was her four grandsons and giving advice to their mothers on how they should be raised. Rita spent endless hours in her kitchen making special assorted candies, and she loved to cook large meals and entertain. Her other passion was playing any kind of games for nickels, but she especially enjoyed her many hands of Bridge with friends three to four times a week. She is survived by her husband Gordie, son Steve Bergo, daughter Julie Bergo, and daughter Jill Patton and son-in-law Chris Patton, all of Phoenix, Arizona, and daughter Cassandra Valdez and son-in-law Dennis Valdez of Littleton, Colorado. Her four grandsons are Carter Patton, 10, and Ben Patton, 6, and Oliver Valdez, 3, and Oscar Valdez, who is a 1 year old and of course “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”. Visitation: Monday, June 14, 2010 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Funeral: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 1:00 PM at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. A reception with cake and coffee will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to Rita and Gordie’s, Community of Grace Church Bldg-Fund, 20783 North 83rd Avenue, Suite 103-621, Peoria, AZ 85382.
