Rhonda Lybeck went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, January 29, 2017. She died peacefully in her apartment at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo.
Rhonda Hektner was born on February 12, 1928 in Burlington, Washington to Gustav and Margarett Hektner. She was a lifetime resident of the Fargo-Moorhead area having graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1946. After attending Augsburg College in Minneapolis she returned to Fargo to marry the love of her life, Dorlan Lybeck on September 4, 1949.
After raising four children, Rhonda developed a passion for charity work. Two of her favorites were Bethany Homes and the New Life Center. At these organizations she served for many years on both their auxiliary and administrative boards. Rhonda loved supporting Oak Grove Lutheran School, a place her family has been connected to for four generations. She served over a decade on its foundation board as its only female member at the time. She was also a strong believer in the local Jail Chaplaincy Program.
Rhonda is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dorlan Lybeck; her children, Marti Lybeck of Lacrosse, WI., Paul (Mona) Lybeck of Fargo, Jon (Carolyn) Lybeck of Moorhead, Karen (Rick) Lybeck of Mankato, MN; 8 grandchildren, Tom (Allie) Lybeck, Ann (Kevin) Klein, Sara (Michael) Carlson, Jean (Eston) Taylor, Clark Lybeck, Marion (Will) Rosenberg, Nora Lybeck, Klara Lybeck, and "adoptive" granddaughter Emily Honl (daughter of Paul and Dr. Beth Honl); 7 great grandchildren, Burke Lybeck, Margarett Klein, Solomon Carlson, Balian Taylor, Rhonda Taylor, Simon Taylor, Nuelle Rosenberg; sister-in-law, Hope Hektner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Florence (Sivert) Jordahl and her brother Al Hektner.
