Pastor Stephen R. Jasch, 54, of Grinnell, Iowa, died January 22, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services for Pastor Jasch will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, at St. John’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Philip L. Hougen, Bishop of the Southeast Iowa Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, officiating. Organists will be Margaret Amo and Cheryl Irland. Vocalists will be Roger and Lisa Henderson along with St. John’s Lutheran Choir. Pallbearers will be Gary Cook, Kenneth Dalldorf, Fred England, Norm Erickson, Bob Falck, Victor Franna, and Don Sundell. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Services also will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo, North Dakota. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church. The son of Virgil and Margie Stenberg Jasch, he was born May 23, 1952, in Fargo, North Dakota. He was raised in Fargo and was a 1970 graduate of Fargo South High School. He was also a graduate of Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana and Christ Seminary-Seminex, St. Louis, Missouri. He was ordained in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, in 1981, and was a pastor for 16 years in two separate parishes in Nova Scotia, churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada. On July 21, 1984, he was married to Rebecca Morrill, at Grace Lutheran Church, Auburn, Maine. The couple moved to Grinnell in June of 1995, and he was installed as pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church on September 3, 1995. Pastor Jasch was a member of the Grinnell Ministerial Association. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca of Grinnell; one daughter, Anna Jasch of Grinnell; his parents, Virgil and Margie Jasch of Fargo, North Dakota; one brother, Keith Jasch of Plymouth, Minnesota; 14 nephews; and 12 nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Nancy Jasch.
