Raymond Earl Such, age 74, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on December 26.
Ray was born June 20, 1940, in Hallock, MN, to Barney and Erma (Gorsuch). He was raised on the family farm in Hallock, MN, where he attended Kennedy High School. He worked for Costin & Sons Construction in Hallock, MN, before moving to Moorhead, MN, where he joined the Moorhead Fire Department. After a brief time with the Fire Department, Ray went back to his true love of carpentry and started an apprenticeship in the carpenters union with Twin City Construction. Ray quickly worked his way up to job superintendent before leaving to become the youngest ever business agent for Carpenters Local #1176. In this position he fought to better the lives of countless carpenters for over 28 years, retiring in 1998. Ray had a love for fishing, deer and pheasant hunting, playing pinochle, and shaking dice, all enjoyed with the occasional shot of "Crown.” His pristine lawn, abundant garden, coin collection and garage sale finds were also a source of pride. Ray will be remembered for his clean jokes, sense of humor, and love of his family.
Ray is survived by his wife, Trudy; sons, Scott (Michelle) Such, Brad (Nadine) Such, Ryan (Jennifer) Such; daughters, Cindy (Bob) Ramstad, Brenda (Bob) Stoeke, Mary Przymus; stepchildren, Steve (Penny) Helgeson, Lori (Gabe) Hermes, Jamie (Karen) Helgeson, Melisa (Alan) Lunsetter; 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bernice (Ted) Carlson, Helen (Ellsworth) Torgerson, Melvin (Helen Ann) Such, Elsie (Louie) Eqstad, Don (Alice) Such and twin brother Robert (Sharon) Such; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
