Raymond “Pete” William Meyer passed away at Vibra Hospital in Fargo on September 18, 2022.
Pete was born in Fargo on June 12th, 1942, son of Frank and Inez Meyer. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1960. Pete worked at various jobs in the FM area until employed at Kaye’s Printing in 1966, until his retirement in 2004. He continued to work PRN for Forum Communication until recently. After retirement he also worked part time for Tri State Auction and Adesa. Pete was united in marriage to Darlene A. Thompson on April 1st, 1967. They resided a brief time at Chrisan Estates, South Fargo before moving to their current, permanent home in Harwood, ND.
Pete loved life and was a real kid at heart. He loved playing practical jokes and having fun. Throughout his life, he had many hobbies and interests including photography, candle making, rock collecting, model airplanes and collecting just about anything. He loved dismantling things, to see how they worked and sometimes put them back together. He loved fixing anything that seemed unfixable. He was very creative and if he couldn’t find a part, he would make one. His garage was his sanctuary. He was also an insect enthusiast and discovered insects that were presented to NDSU as being the first found in ND.
Pete did not have children of his own, but always enjoyed and entertained neighborhood kids, nieces, and nephews. His greatest joys were yearly trips to Havre Mountain, paddle fishing, shooting gophers, hunting, and spending time with his nephew, Craig. His must go trip every year. He was a friend to everyone and could strike up a half hour conversation with a total stranger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Inez Meyer, sister Carolyn Meyer (Korb), brother, Richard Meyer, and niece Ann Kimzey. Pete is survived by his beloved wife Darlene, sister Frances Meyer (Sabbe), sister Barbara Meyer (Kimzey), many nieces, a nephew, great nieces, and great nephews.
