June 2, 1942 — January 12, 2018

Randy (Kent) Stites, 75, of Fargo, ND and formerly Valley City, ND passed away on January 12, 2018. A celebration of life will be held this summer at Randy’s lake home.
Randy was the son of Clifford and Maxine Stites, and spent his childhood in Oakes, ND. He graduated from Valley City State University with a degree in Education and later completed his Masters in Education at the University of North Dakota. Randy married Sharon Hardy, Walhalla, ND, on June 21, 1969.
Randy spent most of his life teaching and coaching. His first job was in Walhalla, ND, but the majority of his career was spent in Valley City. He taught both Jr and Sr High math, and coached football and golf. He also spent 1 very long year as a principal! Randy retired from teaching in 1996 after 32 years.
Randy loved hunting, fishing and babies. Randy was a legendary father and was a man that loved and cared for everyone. His selfless and calm nature was inspirational and his unique ability to be loved by all children was envied. Randy exhibited amazing patience and endurance by battling early-onset Parkinson’s disease for over three decades without complaint.
Randy’s family will miss more things about Randy than they can list. Many may not know how funny he was. He could have published a book with his one liner comments. Most of all, Randy enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Minnesota with his family and very dear friends.
Randy is survived by 2 of his children Jonathon and Jill. Jonathon (Jessica) Stites live in Bozeman, MT with their children Sydney, Casey, and Ryen. Jill (Lance) Ihry live in West Fargo, ND with their children Maddyn, Sullivan, Hogan, and Maverick. His son-in-law Joe (Chantill) Roberts live in Leesburg Virginia with their children Taylor, Emma, Nate, Matt, Luke, Grace, Ben, and Noah. He has 2 surviving brothers and 1 surviving sister-in-law: Greg (Nancy Guy) Stites of Bismarck, ND, Tom (Sylvia) Stites of Vienna, Austria, and Sue Stites of Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his brother Deane, and daughter Jennifer. Randy was lucky enough to have many wonderful friends that he considered part of his family.
