Randall Leroy Eggen, the youngest son of Bernt and Fern (Hansen) Eggen was born November 28, 1946, in Pine River, MN.
Randall attended school and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School Class of 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S Navy in September 1964. He was later medically honorably discharged in March of 1965.
Following his military service he was employed for two summers in Alaska with a gold mining operation. He was then employed for five years at Olive View Hospital in California. He completed his employment in food service, employed for 16 years at the V.A. Hospital in Fargo, ND.
He married Eleanor Norheim-Medler on June 24, 2003, in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in Fargo, ND. Randall was a life member of the American Legion and DAV and also a member of the Sons of Norway.
He leaves behind his wife, Eleanor of 20 years; sisters, Betty Lerud, Enola Mattson, Sheila Moberg, all of Detroit Lakes, MN; one brother Tyrone (Ann), in Florida; sister Lucille Hennings of Hawley, MN; 14 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his two fur babies, Missy and Tiger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Nilmer Hovelsrud.
