Rand L. Piersall, age 58, of Greenacres, Florida died unexpectedly at his home on July 27, 2014. Rand was born in Fargo, ND, November 17, 1955 to Loren and Persys Piersall. He went to school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High School in 1974. He graduated from Moorhead State University (MN) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1980. He began his teaching career working with United Tribes in Bismarck, ND and Twin Buttes, ND. He then accepted a teaching position with the Palm Beach County School District in 1987-first at Canal Point Elementary then to Freedom Shores Elementary. He completed his Master’s Degree in Special Education at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL and had pursued classes at the doctorate level.
He enjoyed his many years of teaching and was a kind, compassionate teacher loved by many. He had many hobbies to include researching family genealogy, reading, raising orchids, classical music and Syfy. Rand blessed his family and friends with his patience, kindness and a dry sarcastic sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all.
Rand is survived by his mother, Persys Piersall of Fargo, ND; 2 sisters, Karen (Mark) Ugelstad, Mapleton, ND, and Lori (Jerry) Brady, Fargo, ND; nephew, Robert Sears; and 2 nieces-Lauren Ugelstad and Katy Sears; and aunt, Francis Grey. He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Piersall; nephew, Gregory Sears and both sets of grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in memory of Rand Piersall to Freedom Shores Elementary, 3400 Hypoluxo Rd., Boynton Beach, Florida 33436, to be used for needed school supplies.
