Ralph M. Berg, 91, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Rolf M. Berg (later renamed Ralph) was born March 1, 1920 at Fargo, North Dakota, to Peter and Anna (Solnes) Berg, who were immigrants from Norway. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 – 1945, in North Africa and Italy. After the war, he married Edna Bartholomaus on November 7, 1945, in Fargo. They lived in Fargo on University Drive for 78 years. He owned and operated a house painting business for many years. He was a life long member of First Lutheran Church. He loved his coffee, Norwegian food, fishing, family trips out West and working with Helping Hands at First Lutheran. He is survived by his wife, Edna; son, Stephen (Dixie) Berg, Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Sheila (Russell) McCurdy, Lee, NH; two grandchildren, Alex Berg, New York City; and Hannah Berg, Durham, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, June Girotti and Ellen Berg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Helping Hands of First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Funeral Service: Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour before the service at church.
