Purdin “Pudge” Lawrence Dahl, age 89 and 364 days, of Fargo, died January 9, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Purdin Dahl was born January 10, 1922, in Mayville, ND, to Jens and Ellen Dahl. He graduated from Portland High School in 1941. Purdin served in the US Army during World War II and was discharged in 1946. He married Eleanore Pederson on September, 14, 1946. Purdin worked for Hanson Meats and together they operated Portland Meats and the Portland Hartz store. He began working for Arnberg & Rasmus in 1973 and later for Ardell Helgeson & Son in Moorhead, until his retirement in August of 1996. Purdin will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Eleanore; daughters, Linda (Richard) Muir of Portland, ND, and Wendy of Fargo, ND; sons, Larry (Denise) of Nevis, MN, Daryl of Fargo, ND, and Dale (Tammy) of Rapid City, SD; sisters Elaine Sundeen of Warroad, MN, and Irene Kvernen of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Loren, grandson Dean, great-granddaughter Adrienne, sister Vivian, brothers-in-law Allen, Ardell, and Kenneth, several nieces and nephews, and his good buddy Kenny Hogfoss. Memorial Service: Friday, January 13, 11:00AM at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Aurdal Cemetery, Portland, ND.
