Phyllis Renee Swan

October 5, 1935 — April 6, 2017

Phyllis Renee Swan was born August 16, 1935 to parents Helmer and Nettie Thompson in Oakes, N.D.

Phyllis married Marvin John Swan on October 5, 1958 in Oakes, N.D. They made their home in Fargo, N.D. and raised three daughters. Phyllis worked many years for the Fargo Public School System as a teacher’s aid at Madison Elementary School.

Besides caring for her daughters while working, Phyllis enjoyed fishing with Marvin, bowling, playing bridge and creating many different craft products that she sold at various craft shows. She enjoyed the many friends they met through Marvin’s membership in the Optimists International Service Club and in later years Phyllis and Marvin volunteered in Medora, N.D. Phyllis and Marvin were active members of First Lutheran Church in Fargo and enjoyed many volunteering opportunities while there.

Phyllis passed away on April 6, 2017 at the age of 81. She died peacefully at Bethany Homes on University Avenue in Fargo under the loving care of her family, friends and the nursing staff of both Bethany on University and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
