Phoebe Rydell, 91, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at Sanford Health in Fargo. Phoebe Theodora Nordly was born June 11, 1920, to Knudt and Hilda (Johnson) Nordly in White Rock, South Dakota. She attended school in White Rock, graduating as Valedictorian of her class. She married Edwin F. Rydell March 21, 1940, in Wheaton, Minnesota. They farmed near Fairmount, North Dakota, until 1952, when they moved to Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where Phoebe worked as a credit manager at Montgomery Wards. In 1955, they moved to Fargo, where she worked as bookkeeper at Dakota Sash and Door and D&M Supply. She was extremely active in many functions at Messiah Lutheran Church including choir, Bible study, wedding coordinator, the Mary Circle, and many other activities, whenever she could be of help. She had a great love and passion for music. Phoebe is survived by her children, Janet (Allan) Norby, Aberdeen, SD; Earl (Penny) Rydell, Dent, MN; Beverly (Arthur) Isley, Chandler, AZ; and Curt Rydell, Fargo, ND; her ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; twin infant sons, Harold and Harvey; grandson, Jeff Norby; two brothers and three sisters. Funeral Service: Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 3:00 PM, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, October 7, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
