Philomena Schneider

Philomena Schneider, 88, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at Bethany Retirement Center, Fargo. Philomena Riehl was born January 16, 1923, in Raleigh, North Dakota, daughter of Adolf and Appolonia (Schreiner) Riehl. She grew up in Raleigh and graduated from high school in Elgin, North Dakota in 1941. Her family moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, and she attended Bismarck College of Business. She worked at the North Dakota State Capitol in the Motor Vehicle Department from 1943 – 1948. She later worked as a bookkeeper at Klein Lumber Company, a career that lasted for 33 years. Philomena married Marcus A. Schneider February 12, 1946, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bismarck. Philomena was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of America, Eagles Auxiliary and was a volunteer at St. Alexius for 20 years. She was also a member of the President’s Club of the University of Mary. Philomena is survived by her husband, Marcus, Fargo, ND; and two daughters, Claudia (Gary) Pramhus, Fargo, ND; and Reesie (Jim) Fasbender, Grand Forks, ND; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig; her parents; two brothers and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo, ND. Funeral Mass: Friday, January 21, 2011, at 10:30 AM, at Riverview Place Chapel – 5300 12th St. S. – Fargo. Visitation: Friday, January 21, 2011, 9:30 – 10:30 at Riverview. Burial: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck, ND, in the Spring.
