Peter “Pete” Heisler, 75, of Fargo, formerly of Devils Lake and Starkweather, ND, died at Sanford Health on Monday, February 20, 2017, surrounded by his loving and caring family.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Pete will be his grandsons, Robert Heisler, Daniel Heisler, Ryan Heisler, and Shawn Heisler, his step-son, Brian Rakowski, and his step son-in-law, Eric Ramirez.
Reading the Scriptures will be Pete's granddaughters, Amanda McKinnon and Sarah O'Connell.
Pete was born in Starkweather, ND on June 9, 1941, the son of Frank and Frances (Ripplinger) Heisler. He attended a country school in Cavalier County. Pete was married to Anne Scharf in 1961. They moved to California in 1962, where Pete worked in maintenance for the school district. They returned to North Dakota in 1972 to take over the family farm. Pete later moved to Fargo and married Jackie Brunette in May 1996.
Pete loved farming, hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Pete is survived by his wife, Jackie; his sons, Dewane (JoAnn) Heisler, Casselton, ND, James (Deb) Heisler, Fargo, ND, step-son, Brian Rakowski, step-daughter, Kim (Eric) Ramirez; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and previous spouse/dear friend, Anne Heisler. Pete is also survived by four brothers, Joe Heisler, Minnesota, Kenneth (JoAnn) Heisler, California, Kosmos Heisler, California, and Frank (Marty) Heisler, California; four sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Michigan, Helen (Earl) Trenda, Washington, Irene (Elsworth) Briesmeister, California, Elaine Hettwer, North Dakota, sister-in-law, Myrna Heisler, North Dakota, sister-in-law, Marian Heisler, California, and brother-in-Law, Ed Weber, California. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Joseph, Jim, and Eugene Heisler and sister, Mary Weber.
