Peter Graber, 77, Horace, ND, died on Feb 8, 2024, in his home under hospice care.
Pete was born in Fargo, North Dakota on June 29, 1946, the son of Peter “Fred” and Florence (Syverson) Graber. After high school graduation from Central High School, Fargo, he enlisted in the Navy from 1965 to 1969. On June 14, 1986, Pete married the love of his life Monica and they blended their family of six together. Pete joined the Fargo Police Department in 1970 where he started the K-9 unit and then moved to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Upon retirement from the BCA, he went to work at the Federal Court House as a Court Security Officer. After 40 years of law enforcement, he fully retired.
Pete volunteered his time calling Bingo at Bethany Retirement Home and several days a week at the Fargo Food Pantry. He enjoyed carving diamond willow walking sticks and gifted them to loved ones. Pete enjoyed time with family, especially his grandchildren. Spending time at the lake and enjoying Bison Football were two of Pete’s favorite hobbies.
Pete is survived by his wife of nearly 38 years Monica, and his six children. Kristina (Greg) Tacheny, Sean (Sherry) Graber, Tracey Bruns, Matthew Graber, Erika (Joey) Tommeraus, Ryan (Abby) Hartmann. Pete is survived by nine grandchildren Jessica, Jaeda, Taylor, Gage, Derek, Kaylee, Kasey, Savannah and Felicity. Also survived by special nephew Kevin (Sue) Koskela and niece Kim Koskela and many more special nieces and nephews. Pete was blessed with very special cousins Dan, Judy, Cindy, JT, Gary, Sue and Kris. Pete has many brothers and sisters in law that he spent lots of time with. He also had many special friends, especially Mark and Bonnie Johnson, Ken Willmann, and his Police Brothers.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharon, niece Kari, cousins John, Barbara, and Paul, mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Marilyn Gjerde, and several special Aunts and Uncles.
The visitation will be at Horace Lutheran Church on Monday, February 12th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. The memorial service will be at Horace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, February 13th at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at the Fargo National Cemetery. A special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Fargo VA and St. Cloud Hospital.
