Pauline Helen Dean, 80, of Moorhead, MN died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Eventide, Moorhead, MN. Pauline Koch was born at Onida, SD, November 8, 1927, to Chris and Hermina “Minnie” (Steenson) Koch. She grew up on the family farm in Onida, SD area. She graduated from high school in 1945 in Gettysburg, SD. She earned her teaching certificate in 1946 from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD. She married Allison Dean, September 17, 1949, in Gettysburg, SD. She taught in a country school near Tolstoy, SD for two years. She also worked as a nurse’s aide during the late 1960’s. She lived most of her life in various areas of South Dakota including Aberdeen, Frederick, Webster and Sioux Falls. Pauline moved to the Fargo/Moorhead area in 1999. She is survived by her children, Karen (Dennis) Ernst, Fargo, ND; Patti Ziegler, Des Moines, IA; and Michelle (Jeff) Lilyquist, Sioux Falls, SD; her sisters, Marian Johnson, Gettysburg, SD; Martha Weischedel, Brookings, SD; Irene Mayer, Pierre, SD; Emma (Dan) Schramm, Littleton, CO; and her brother Richard (Gerri) Cook, Camano Island, WA; and by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allison Dean and infant son, Alan Dean and her brothers, Leonard, Carroll, Ralph, and Art Koch.
