Pamela Jean Mathern, 57, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley; after a very brave and courageous, almost three year battle from cancer.
Pam was born on April 15, 1956 to Betty and David Ellsworth, in Fargo, North Dakota.
She grew up in Fargo, attending Jefferson Elementary, Agassiz Junior High, and graduating from Fargo South High. While in High School, she was employed at A & W, as a carhop, and Embers and later on at Target. Her last and favorite employment was Riverview Place, where she dearly loved her job, co-workers, and special residents.
Pam was blessed with two wonderful, caring, fun and helpful daughters. She was united in marriage to Greg Mathern, September 8, 2001.
Pam enjoyed spending time with her family, special outings with her daughters, her flower garden, walks with her dog Santi, plays and movies, and being with many special friends and neighbors.
Pam is survived by her husband, Greg Mathern; children, Jessica (Chad) Stern and Stacy Walen; sisters, Jan (Jim) Plath and DeeDee Ellsworth; brothers, Steve (Tamara) Ellsworth, Rich (Margie) Ellsworth, Perry (Mariah) Ellsworth and Matt (Jeri) Fossum; eleven nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Joe Mathern; brothers-in-law, Herman Mathern, Ron (Linda) Mathern, Allen (Susanne) Mathern and Terry (Patsy) Mathern; sisters-in-law, Mary Vetter, Judy (Jon) Nitschke, Janice (Tom) Wolf, Karen Duncan, Bonnie (Calvin) Triepte and Sue (Jeff) Nuelle, and thirty nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Betty Fossum; dad, David Ellsworth; grandparents; and mother-in-law, Molly Mathern.
Pam was loving, fun and caring. She will be dearly missed by many. Her family thanks all the special people in her life, for all their support and prayers. – Peace be now with you Pam –
