Oscar M. Holsen, 90, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Veterans Administrative Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Oscar Melvin Holsen was born September 29, 1920, to Rasmus and Magnhild (Anderson) Holsen in Moorhead, Minnesota. He graduated from Moorhead High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in World War II for four years and nine months. Eighteen of those months, he served in the European Theatre. After returning from the service, Oscar was united in marriage to Maxine Bergren on February 9, 1946. The couple resided in Fargo all of their lives. During his lifetime, Oscar worked for the United States Postal Service, Northwest Audit, and for the majority of his life, was a self-employed public accountant. Oscar was a member of the local American Legion and VFW. For many years, he was very involved in the Babe Ruth baseball program in Fargo. Oscar was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roland Holsen. Oscar is survived by his wife, Maxine, Moorhead, MN; daughters, Susan (Bruce) Grasamke, Elbow Lake, MN; Nancy (Don) Johnson, Horace, ND; son, Jeff (Pam) Holsen, Elbow Lake, MN; grandchildren, Erica (fiancé, Calvin Reiter) Holsen, Billings, MT; Justin Johnson, Fargo, ND; Marisa (fiancé, Mike Christopherson) Holsen, Maple Grove, MN; a brother, John Holsen, Mankato, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service: Monday, January 17, 2011, at 2:00 PM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
