Orela Olivier

Orela Olivier, 85, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Orela was born February 28, 1927 in Anse-a-veau, Haiti to Pericles and Elicerne (Amede) Olivier. She grew up in Anse-a-veau, where she farmed for much of her life. She lived their until 1994, at which point she moved to Port-au-Prince to be closer to family. In 2003, she moved to Fargo, North Dakota to live with family. She later returned to Haiti, on October 2009 to attend the wedding of her youngest daughter Solange which was in December 2009. She was in Haiti when the earthquake happened in January 2010. Later that same year she came back to the United States first stopping in New York and Stayed with daughter and son-in-law before making her way back to Fargo. She was very caring and loving. Every time someone is away from the house she would be standing at the door or gate, on the balcony looking in all directions, saying, where are they and when are they coming back? When they do get back she would say “ Ou vini pitit mwen an! Mesi Bondye! ’ (meaning you’re back, Thank you Jesus!) Grandma had a heart for children, she enjoyed watching and spending as much time as possible with her great-grand children. She spent some of her days babysitting for others in the area. She was a grandma to all the kids. She lived an exemplary life, filled with the blessing of the Lord. Orela is survived by her son, Sylla (Roselene) Olivier, Fargo, ND; daughters, Jesula (Samuel) Cornet, New York City, NY and Solange (Josue) Pierre Antoine, Port-au-Prince, Haiti; 10 grandchildren; Peterson Olivier, Nerline Olivier, Sylvie (Andrew) Schweyen, Jean Emmanuel Olivier, Germanie Olivier, Jean Charles Olivier, Jean Ricardo Olivier, Joel Cornet, Jean Samuel Cornet, and Sandra Cornet. and 3 great-grandchildren; Adrianna Olivier, Sydney Schweyen and Tyson Schweyen. She was preceded in death by her son, Henry Pierre; daughter, Francine Pierre; sister, Oremise Olivier; and brothers, Dieuvert and Eliphete Bourgeot. Funeral Service: 2:00PM, Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: 5:00-8:00PM, Monday, March 12, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Springvale Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
