Norris Erickson

Norris Norlan Erickson, 69, Rochert, Minnesota, died June 3, 2009, at MeritCare Palliative Care in Fargo, ND. Norris “Norrie” was born July 12, 1939, to Nels and Nora (Hoveland) Erickson in Ada, Minnesota. He was raised in Twin Valley, Minnesota, along with brothers, Leroy and Lyle, and sister, Edith. Norris served in the U.S. Army from 1959 – 1963, stationed in Germany. On July 11, 1964, he married Sharon Kading in Felton, Minnesota. Together, they raised two daughters, Shelly and Nancy, and one son, Mark. Norris started his career as a dental technician in 1964, at the Welu Dental Lab in Fargo, North Dakota. He worked at the Welu Lab for seventeen years. In 1986, the family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, where Norris continued his career as a Dental Technician at the Veterans Administration in Dallas. He retired from the VA in 2004, and moved back to Minnesota, where he established his own business, Norris Erickson Dental Lab. He continued working until the time of his death. Norris was happiest when surrounded by friends and family while at the lake. He enjoyed snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, going out for Sunday breakfast, playing cards and sharing jokes. His heart was big, his hand always available and his home always open. He is survived by Sharon Erickson, Fargo, ND; two daughters, Shelly (Tom) Baer, Duluth, MN; Nancy Erickson, Dilworth, MN; son, Master Sergeant Mark Erickson, Cabot, AR; grandchildren, Jessica Baer, Matthew Baer, Randy Erickson, Nicholas Baer, Nathan Baer, Jamey Johnson, Chase Erickson, Casey Johnson, Trenton Erickson; and great-grandchild, Damien Johnson; two brothers, Leroy Erickson, Twin Valley, MN; Lyle (Norma) Erickson, Moorhead, MN; sisters-in-law, Karen (Bob) Hogetvedt, Felton, MN; Cindy (Mike) Pesola, New York Mills, MN; brothers-in-law, Ken (Marie) Kading, Moorhead, MN; Bruce (Cindy) Kading, Detroit Lakes, MN; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and one very spoiled Lhasa apso, Princess. Norris is preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Nora Erickson; sister, Edith Knutson; and an infant brother. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the family. Funeral Service: Monday, June 8, 2009, at 10:30 AM, at First Lutheran Church Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
