Norma (Lund) Tangen passed away peacefully March 11th, 2020 at Eventide in Moorhead. She had been relocated there after the Elim fire. She was a lifelong resident of North Dakota. Norma was born on the family farm near Brocket ND on March 15th, 1924, the 5th child born to Norwegian Immigrant parents Nels Lund and Mina (Mickelson) Lund. Norma graduated from Lakota High School and Mayville teachers College and taught grade school in Cavalier, ND until she married the love of her life, Erland Ole Tangen
on July 17, 1946. They lived in Wahpeton and Fargo, ND while Erland finished his degree before moving to Upham and then Valley City in 1951. In 1956 the family moved to Fargo where Norma was a homemaker before starting work as a Library aide with the Fargo Public Schools at Hawthorne
Elementary, retiring in 1986. Being a homemaker, her family was the center of her life. Her loving care and faith filled life was a wonderful example for her family and others to follow. Her love of the Lord brought her to many acts of service at Olivet Lutheran Church including the Quilters group, bible studies, Circle, visiting shut-ins and more. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her 4 siblings, Husband, infant daughter Mary Beth, Son David and his wife, Sharon. She is survived by her children Carol Lindemann Moorhead, Paul (Diane) Fargo, Mary (Mark) Harden Surprise AZ and Jane (Kelly) Gunderson Fargo, 12 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. She would light up whenever they came to visit her. Celebration of her life to be held Monday, March 16th 2020 at Olivet Lutheran Church with visitation at 10:00 A.M. followed by the service at 11:00 A.M. A luncheon will follow the service.
