Norma Jean Flore passed away on May 7, 2016 at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo. Norma was born July 10, 1932, to Ernest and Viola Mae (Heath) Coats in Bismarck, ND. After graduating from high school, she moved to Fargo and met John "Jack" Flore and they were married for 35 years when he died in 1989. She raised four children in Fargo, and enjoyed an active social life including playing cards, bowling, sports events, theater and travel.
Norma was an excellent secretary, serving the U.S. District Judge for most of her career, and until her retirement in 1992. She was actively involved in church activities at Messiah Lutheran Church, as well as Homemakers Club, P.E.O., book clubs, red hats and more. She greatly enjoyed volunteering each summer at Medora.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Mark) Lembke, Fargo, Karen (Kevin) Effertz, Velva, and Janet Moser (Randy), West Fargo, as well as grandchildren Rhianna, Jeremy (Nicole), Kyle, Joe, Jamie and Hollie (Cory), and two great granddaughters Ava and Zoe. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, John, her son Michael, her parents, and brother Jim Coats, and sisters Eva Clement, Ruby Hocking, and Evelyn Bethke.
