Nimbona Olive was born in Burundi province Bururi komine Rumonge in 01-01-1965. Her father's name was Misigaro Santislas, and her mother's name was Baranyizigiye Elizabeth. Nimbona Olive was the oldest child in her family of 11 children. Four males and seven females and as of now, there are only two females and two males left. Ntakizonkiza Eugenie, Nsanzugwimo Celestin, Vumiliya Agnes, Bizimina Seth.
Nimbona Olive fled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1972 due to a war that was taking place in her home country of Burundi. She met her husband Nyandwi Masekanya in Congo a couple of months after settling. They traditionally got married and had 14 children, 6 of them passed away at a very early age. Nine of the children were born in Congo, and the rest were born in Tanzania. Nimbona and her family fled to Tanzania and relocated to a refugee camp called Mtabila. In that refugee Camp Nimbona was with her husband and her eight children. Imani Alex who was the oldest son passed away in 2019 in Burundi. Living 7 Vyizigiro Gabriel (son), Kubwayo Claudine ( daughter), Sengiyunva Kadada (daughter), Santi Tuyinsenge (son), Vyamungu Claude (son), Enock Sibomana (son), Nishimwe Yvette (daughter). Nimbona Olive was born into a Christian home, during an early age, she was a choir member. As she got older, she started holding leadership positions in the church.
Nimbona worked as an Obstetrician at the biggest hospital in Mtabila camp. She was also one of the community leaders also used to help the mothers around her community deliver their babies safely due to the shortage of hospitals. She was an outstanding mother and a leader; everyone admired her. She had her first stroke in 2006 while she was delivering her last child Nishimwe Yvette, which left her paralyzed on her left side of the body. In January 2009, Nimbona and her family had the opportunity to come to America. She came with her husband alongside 7 of her children. She suffered from strokes and paralysis during her moments in America. She was a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She left her husband with seven children and her grandchildren
and her four siblings.
