Neil J. Wiltse, 89 of Fargo, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Neil was born March 13, 1924 to Urban and Irene Wiltse in Lethbridge, Alberta. He grew up in New Rockford, ND, and Moorhead, MN, graduating from Moorhead High in 1942. During school, he worked for a telegraph company in Moorhead, where he rode his bike and delivered singing telegrams.
Neil married Norma Krogen June 9, 1945 at Moorhead Trinity Lutheran Church. He worked for Northwest Bakery until 1949 when he moved his family to the Julius Borgen Farm near Walcott to help his step-father with the farm. He later worked for Twin City Construction and Elim Nursing Home in Fargo. He moved to a house in Fargo in 1989 and later to One Oak Apts in 2011.
Neil enjoyed baking cookies, gardening, and playing his harmonica for everyone at Richland Church and One Oak Apts.
Neil is survived by his children, Karen (Charles Moe), Neil Jr. (Marlene Koenig), and Michael (Bonnie); grandchildren, Erica (Tom Giorgi), Jonathan Moe (Mary Carney), Jason Wiltse, Denise Wiltse-McWherter, Michelle (Josh Ellis), and Joshua (Stacey) Wiltse; and ten great-grandchildren; a niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urban and Irene; step-father, Julius Borgen; brothers, Hugh, Allen, Urban Jr., and William; and sisters, Reeva Adams and Iris Rieke.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 28 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Richland Lutheran Cemetery.
