Myrtle Henderson

Myrtle E. Henderson, 89, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND. Myrtle Evelyn Erickson was born June 15, 1919 near Lake Park, MN to William and Olga (Anderson) Erickson. She attended schools in the area and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1937. Growing up, she attended Eksjo Lutheran Church. After high school, she went onto St. Andrews Nursing School in Bottineau, ND, graduating in 1943. She married Maurice Henderson in Los Angeles, CA on April 4, 1945. She worked as a registered nurse in Minnesota, Wisconsin, California and North Dakota, including the Minot and Fargo VA Hospitals. She retired from the Fargo VA Hospital after 26 years. She was a resident of Fargo since 1955. Myrtle was involved in Lutheran Nurses Guild, Gate City District Nurses Association and was a member of First Lutheran Church. Myrtle is survived by her niece, June Good, Mankato, MN; friends, Tim and Beth Haugen, Fargo, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Saundra Henderson; and sisters Florence Erickson and Alpha Harness. Memorials preferred to New Life Center or First Lutheran Church Foundation. Funeral Service: Friday, August 29, 2008 at 2PM at First Lutheran Church Chapel, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service. Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN at a later date.
