Myrtis Rae Clark passed away peacefully at Little Hospice in Edina, MN on Thursday, February 13, 2025. She was 88. Myrtis touched many with her warm, beautiful smile and humorous personality. We were all blessed to know someone so selfless, kind and loving. Her everlasting faith in Jesus Christ, her savior, brought her comfort and peace throughout her life.
On March 29, 1936, Melvin and Minnie Larson welcomed Myrtis and her twin brother, Milton into the family on a farm near Warner, SD. Melvin died when Myrtis was 3, leaving oldest brother Udell to keep the spunky girl in line. Myrtis spent her first 12 years on the family farm, attending school in a one room schoolhouse before the family moved to Aberdeen, SD. After high school, Myrtis attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. During her junior year she met her forever love, a handsome dark-haired sophomore named Gary Clark. Being progressive for the time, she was she asked him out! They married on September 1, 1957, in Aberdeen, SD.
After marrying, Myrtis taught math in St. Paul, MN while Gary finished seminary. They moved to Joplin, MT and over the next several years they were called to parishes in Forman, ND, Fargo, ND and Enderlin, ND. Myrtis spent her time raising their four children while being very involved in the church as the pastor's wife. During the 17 years spent in Enderlin, Myrtis volunteered as an EMT for the local rescue squad and worked at the bank. In 1994, they moved to Fargo, where Myrtis worked for a bank until after Gary died in 2012. In 2020, Myrtis moved to Richfield, MN to be closer to her children. Myrtis wanted to thank all of the people she and Gary had met on their life's journey that enriched their lives so fully.
Myrtis is survived by her four children, Nancy Nixon (Terrance), Richfield, MN; Peter Clark, Las Vegas, NV; Eric Clark (Jennah), Minneapolis, MN; and JoEllen Clark, Richfield, MN; three granddaughters: Katrina Kumm (Eileen), Minneapolis, MN; Allison Bergquist (Casey), Hawley, MN; and Mallory Kumm, Minneapolis, MN; great grandchildren, Francis and Giovanni; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Carroll and Grace Galvin, Waseca, MN; sisters-in-law Ginger Campos, Euphrata, WA and Brenda Hobbs, Montevideo, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.
