Muriel Ellen Lamp, 78, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo following a brief illness.
Muriel was born April 6, 1943 to Earl and Marvel (Opdahl) Isaacson in Crookston, MN, the oldest of their four children. Her family moved to Edgeley, ND where she graduated high school. Muriel chose to stay in Edgeley to help her mother following her father's death. She started her life-long career in retail at Edgeley Drugstore.
Muriel met Robert Lamp of Nortonville, ND during high school. Although they attended different schools they became very good friends. When Robert returned home from college they were married at Catholic Church of the Transfiguration in Edgeley, ND on August 13, 1966.
Muriel and Robert began married life in Oakes, ND giving birth to their son Jason and daughter Kristen. They later moved to Bismarck, ND where son Jeffrey was born. The family settled in Fargo where Muriel and Robert raised their family on north Elm Street for 43 years. She loved her home, her neighbors and her church.
Muriel loved serving people. She was kind, compassionate and generous. Muriel sold women's fine clothing at Laurie's for 25 years. Making her customers feel special with every visit to the store was very important to her. You weren't a stranger; just a friend she hadn't met yet.
Every January she would hand write the birthday of each person she knew on her new calendar. It hung on her refrigerator so she would not forget to mail a card. Her calendar was full. She was blessed to have many special relatives and good friends.
Muriel loved to entertain. When she wasn't traveling in support of Robert's work with his association, she was hosting dinner parties in their home. Her dinner table was always perfectly set. But she never needed a special reason to have friends over.
Most of all, Muriel loved her family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She took great pride in her husband, her children, their spouses and grandchildren. Muriel wanted to make every birthday, wedding and holiday a special memory. She had a talent for finding that special gift you knew could only come for her. She lived her best life always and was a great example to all of us. Muriel will be greatly missed.
Muriel is survived by her husband of 54 years Robert Lamp; her children Jason (Sheri) Lamp of Northfield, NJ, Kristen (Michael) Gallagher of Fargo, ND and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Lamp of Fargo, ND; her grandchildren Payton Lamp of Northfield, NJ, Kate and Thomas Gallagher of Fargo, ND and Justin, Emma and Lauren Lamp of Fargo, ND; siblings Sharon (Arden) Fuher of Merricourt, ND and Spencer (Joann) Isaacson of Edgeley, ND; and many beloved relatives and very good friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Earl and Marvel Isaacson, her sister Norrine Horsager and brother-in-law Alan Horsager.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 pm followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Muriel will be buried in Edgeley, ND at a later date.
