Monrad Hofrenning

Monrad Olaf Hofrenning, 91, of Fargo, ND, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, surrounded by his four daughters. Monrad was born to Bernt and Anna (Loftness) Hofrenning on May 21, 1917, in Max, ND. He graduated from Roseau, MN, high school and received a B.S. degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in Business Administration. Before attending college, Monrad served in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Pacific. Monrad worked for the IRS for over 25 years in various capacities, including pension trust specialist. After retirement, he worked as an insurance agent for many years. Monrad met Roselle Berg at the University of Minnesota and they were married July 21, 1951, and lived their entire married life together in Fargo, ND. Monrad was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and donated his time and talent in numerous ways to the congregation. He was the treasurer for many years, and he was contributed greatly to the Hour of Worship television ministry at Messiah, serving as its treasurer for many years. Monte volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and was a member of Golden K Kiwanis and the Sons of Norway. Monrad lived his life with generosity, gratitude, patience and kindness. His sweet and gentle nature touched many and he will be greatly missed. Monrad is survived by his four daughters, Ilene (Chris Ross) Hofrenning, Framingham, MA; Barbara (Brian Bacchiocchi), Brooklyn, NY; Sharon Hofrenning, San Diego, CA; Maureen (Robert Marsden) Hofrenning, Wichita. KS; two brothers, Ralph (Judith) Hofrenning, Fargo, ND; James (Ingeborg) Hofrenning, Minneapolis, MN; and five grandchildren: Evan and Nathan Ross, Eana and Jana Bacchiocchi, and Andrew Marsden. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselle; his parents; sister, Dagmar Sanden, and brother, Gerhard Hofrenning. Funeral Service: Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, March 6, 2009, from 4-6 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Memorials are preferred to Messiah Hour of Worship or Meals on Wheels.
