Milton Perry Strand

October 26, 1930 — June 13, 2014

Milton Perry Strand, 83, of Fargo, ND, ascended to Heaven on Friday, June 13, 2014 from Sanford Medical Center.

Milton was born at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fargo, ND on October 26, 1930 to Peter and Minnie (Johnson) Strand of Sheldon, ND.

He attended school at Coburn Township Ransom County School and graduated from Enderlin High School, he was elected President of his class all five years attending school in Enderlin. Milt went to Interstate Business College of Fargo furthering his education in Office Management. Milt worked for the Rural Electric Association in Valley City and entered the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in January 1952. While in the Army he attended clerk typist school at Fort Ord in California and was sent to Germany, returning to the United States on December 24, 1953, after being honorably discharged. Milt worked for Dakota Plate Glass, Daveau Music, Westgo Manufacturing and Lutheran Hospital and Home until retirement.

Milt was united in marriage to Darlene (Dolly) Peterson on July 1, 1951. They were married for 63 years and raised four children. Milt was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church of Fargo where he held many positions such as treasurer of Sunday school, Sunday school teacher and supervisor, and usher for many years, National Office Management, FM Credit Men, The American Legion, Sons of Norway and the Elks. He enjoyed monthly meeting with his fellow “Enderlinites” the second Tuesday of every month at the Sons of Norway, monthly family gatherings at their home to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions and life as a family. He loved to work around his yard and home. Milt was a quiet humble man who loved his Lord and family unconditionally. Milt is a survivor of two by-pass surgeries and four bouts of cancer, losing the battle to the fifth one.

Milt is survived by his wife, Dolly; children, Rick (Janet) Strand, Deerfield Beach, FL, Paula (Ken) Kelly, West Fargo, ND, Jeff (Reneece) Strand, Sioux Falls, SD, and Brad Strand, Fargo, ND; sister, Muriel Anderson, Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, Kathy Strand, Mason and Kellan of Fargo, Heather (Bryce) Moritz, Bella, Cora, Maya and Elijah of West Fargo, Aaron (Lauren) Strand, Jersey and Laiklyn of Sioux Falls, SD, Traci (Chris) Nelson, Jazmin, Paige and Morgan of Georgetown, MN, Tascha (Brock) Butler, Kaya and Kobe of Fargo, Zach (Elizabeth) Strand, Mia, Terrance and Ellie Mae of West Fargo, ND, Phillip Strand, Coconut Creek, FL, Faron Strand, Jacksonville, FL, Jaclyn Strand and Eddie of Jacksonville, FL; and two special nieces, Sue Peterson of Fargo and Shelly Janicek of Eagan, MN.

Memorials may be sent to Olivet Lutheran Church Radio Fund or Roger Maris Cancer Center.

We would like to heartfully thank Dr. Leitch and the Roger Maris Cancer Center along with the staff of seventh floor Sanford Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Milt. Each and every one of you has a place in our hearts, along with Milt.
