Milton R. Smith, 87, of Rockford IL, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021, in OSF St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness. Born June 17, 1933, in Fargo ND, son of Harry and Lucille (Scott) Smith. Married Elayne B. Bugbee in Valley City, ND, on January 26, 1952. Rockford resident for over 50 years. He and his wife started a family business, S&M Appliance. Retired in 1998 to take care of his ailing wife, later went to work part time for Dons Appliance Service until 2019. He attended Third Presbyterian Church.
Survived by son, Dale Smith of Fargo, N.D.; daughters, Debra (Mark) Krueger of Salem, WI., Tammy (Mike) Feierday of Rockford, IL.; sister, Mavis Hanson of Fargo, ND.; brothers, Marlow Smith of Casselton, ND., Merlon (Maggie) Smith of Wheatland, ND., Mahlon (Laurie) Smith of Bowman, ND., Manard (Judy) Smith of Poway CA.; sister-in-law, Betty Smith of San Diego, CA.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by wife, Elayne in 1998; parents, Harry and Lucille; brothers, Marvin Smith and Melvin Smith; sisters-in-law, Ange Smith and Phyllis Smith; brother-in-law, E. Charles Hanson; daughter-in-law, Rita Smith.
A walk-through visitation will be held from 4-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1001 2nd Ave. Rockford, IL. Funeral Service will be following the visitation at 5:15 p.m.
A funeral service will also be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
Milton’s final resting place will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, North Dakota.
