Mildred Tessmer, 96, of Fargo, formerly of Campbell, MN, was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2018. Mildred had been a resident at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo at the time of her death.
Mildred was one of eight children born to Henry and Sophia Barth on August 29, 1922. She graduated from high school in 1941. She worked for Douglas Aircraft during World War II. She made and sold jewelry in Venice Beach, CA.
Mildred married Archie Tessmer on December 17, 1946 and began married life on the family farm outside Waucoma, Iowa. They were blessed with three daughters and a son.
The family moved to Campbell, MN in 1959. Mildred began working part time for the Franciscan Sisters at St. Francis Nursing Home in Breckenridge, MN in 1960. In the autumn of 1961 she started working full time. She retired in 1987.
After her retirement, she joined the Campbell Flower Club and was a member of the Purple Hat Ladies. Mildred loved working in her gardens and tending to her roses. People would often talk about how beautiful Mildred's flowers were, of which she was deeply proud.
Mildred moved to Fargo, ND in 2014 where she resided until her death.
Mildred is survived by her daughters, Norma Tessmer, Fargo, ND; Karen (Dan) Jensen, Wahpeton, ND; and Patricia Krebs, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jeffrey Jensen, Jeannie Jensen, Jim Mitzel, David Mitzel, Sean (Jennifer) Tessmer, Elizabeth Tessmer; five great-grandchildren, Justice, Caitlyn, Jacob, Jenna, and Jaeger; and one great-great-granddaughter, Sierra Mitzel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; son, James; brothers, Ronald, Raymond, Lyle, and Russell; sisters, Roena Giddings, Gertrude Clark, and Donna Jean Langenwalter; and her parents, Henry and Sophia.
Memorials are preferred to Ethos Hospice or Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo.
