Mildred Roggensack, 94, Fargo, ND, died Monday, October 17, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center.
Mildred Jean Bennett was born in Fargo, May 5, 1922 to Esther and Sander Bennett. Mildred grew up in Fargo, graduating from Central High School in 1940. She married Al Roggensack on June 2, 1945 and they spent over 71 years together until his death this past July.
Mildred loved summer weekends at Lake Lida where family has gathered since 1957. Al and Mildred wintered in Mesa for more than 30 years.
She was not a Barbershopping widow; she was a Barbershopping wife who enjoyed the show and competition as much as Al, the singer, did. She needed to be there because she knew the words to every song and often provided a line or verse that Al was just not sure of. For over sixty years they were active Barbershoppers.
Mildred is survived by her three children, Carol (Jim) Baum, Laurie Holm (Randy Sauvageau) and Rick (Jane) Roggensack; four grandchildren, Damon Holm, Brady (Leslie) Holm, Cody Baum, Amber (Dave) Johnson; six great grandchildren, Kallyn Baum, Maya, Blake and Duncan Johnson, Bennett and Kellan Holm. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth (Paul) Bearson; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Roggensack and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Riverview and Crosshaven for their compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Great Plains Harmony, Riverview Place or a charity of your choice.
