Michael Watkins

Michael George Watkins “Mike” beloved boyfriend and father, son, brother, and friend. He was born on January 6, 1960, and passed away on July 7, 2008. Mike was raised in Moorhead, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1978. He attended college in North Carolina and achieved a Bachelor of Arts in political science. Mike is survived by his girlfriend, Geri Lewis, and her children Andrea and Nicholas; his mother, Colleen Nelson of Fargo, ND; father, Arthur Watkins and stepmother, June of Elizabethtown, NC; sister, Karen and her children Brett (wife, Daniele and daughter, Jaelyn) and Nicole; brother, Chris and his wife, Jeannie and their children, Lydia, Esther, Anna, and Hope; brother Dan; sister, Rebecca and her children, Andrew and Skylar; brother, David and his wife, Alessandra and her children Ayna and Isabella; and sister, Cathy. Mike was an extremely caring, intelligent person who cared deeply for his family and friends. Mike enjoyed playing chess with his stepson, Nicholas, and taking him to Taekwondo class. Mike, Geri, Andrea, and Nicholas enjoyed going on cruises together. He loved to travel, go fishing, acting, and cats. He enjoyed spending time with his cat, Freya. Mike was a part of the Society of Creative Anachronism(SCA) which recreated ancient times, and Valleycon. He joined the Klingon Organization, here in Fargo, where he acquired the Klingon name Kurhas. Mike was also interested in medieval history, weapons, and the making of his own wine and ale. Mike will always be our “Gentle Giant”. We will always remember his smile which could light up the room and win anyone over. Rest in Peace Mike. We love you and will never forget you. Love, your family. Burial: Springvale Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
