Michael Dennis Scholar

Michael "Mike" Dennis Scholar, 64, of Mahnomen, MN passed away comfortably and peacefully surrounded by his daughters on November 24, 2016 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Mike was born in Two Harbors, MN on December 11, 1951 to Toini and Robert Scholar, Sr. Mike graduated from Clover Valley High School in 1970, and was married to Pat Leikness in October of 1977. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Lindsey Marie and Katie Christine.

Mike was skilled in a variety of trades during his life, including mining, meat cutting, and bulk fuel delivery. Mike was employed by Digi-Key in Thief River Falls, MN at the time of his death.

Mike was a devoted father and grandfather, and spending time with his daughters and grandchildren were among his most-loved activities, especially Christmas cookie baking, trips to the North Shore, and attending his grandchildren's activities. Mike also enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending as many Eagles concerts as he possibly could.

Mike will be dearly missed by his daughters Lindsey Scholar and Katie Scholar of Moorhead, MN, grandchildren Taylor Scholar and Landon Janich, and Addison, Marley, and Noahh Melby. Mike is also survived by his nieces Tammy Dalbec and Louann Johnson, both of Two Harbors, MN, sister in law Carol Scholar of Two Harbors, MN, as well as great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert "Bob" Scholar, Jr.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date, per Mike's request.
