Melvin Meyer, 90, of Fargo, ND, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND. Melvin was born on June 18, 1926 to Reinhold and Olivia (Siem) Meyer. He attended school in Lidgerwood and Forman, ND. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy/Seabees at Okinawa, Japan. He worked at Midwest Motor Express, Fargo, until his retirement in 1988. He married Alice Madsen on December 30, 1944.
Melvin was truly a people person. He was always happy to be around family and friends – and no one was a stranger for very Long. He had a genuine interest in people and he was very adventurous. The family would like to express our sincerest appreciation to the doctors and staff at the Fargo Veterans Administration Medical Center and Elim Care Center for their exemplary care and compassion shown to our father during the last several years. Thank you.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy (Lowell) Christenson, O Fallon, IL, daughter-in-law, Judy (Bruce) Meyer, Atlanta, GA. Two sons, Gary (Marlene) Meyer, Fargo, ND and Curt Meyer, West Fargo, ND. Grandchildren, Chris and Craig Christenson, Marc, Amy and Kim Meyer, and Kari Lockett. Five great-grandchildren, Cassadi, Connor, Ayden, Ava and Kallon. Brother; Clyde (Dorothy) Meyer, sisters, Viola (Elmer) Anderson, and Norma (Dale) Repko.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, son Bruce, daughter-in-law Ione Loeks (Curt) and two brothers; Orville Meyer and James Meyer.
