Mecois Michel, 53, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND. Mecois, known as Frère Michel, was born August 1, 1956, in L’ azile, Haiti. He worked as a taxi driver in Miami, Florida. Frère Michel went to a public school in Haiti where he completed Junior High. After his parents passed away, he did not have the opportunity to continue his education. Therefore, he decided to stop going to school and work. During his lifetime, he lived in many places. In 1986, he moved to St. Martin where he worked in construction to provide for himself. In 1988, he returned to Haiti to marry Manette Fevrier. He moved back to St. Martin with his wife. There, they gave birth to their one and only daughter, Justine Michel. A few months later, his wife decided to move back to Haiti but he stayed in St. Martin. In 1994, he moved to Miami, Florida, where he did various kinds of jobs to support himself and his family back in Haiti. In 2003, God reunited him with his family. Life was not that easy for him in Florida so he decided to move to Fargo a year ago. He is survived by his wife Manette Fevrier; daughter, Justine Michel; his two brothers, Ilnor and Alcy Michel; his sister, Tata Michel; sister-in-law, Calcimene Fevrier; his brothers-in-law, Arcene Fevrier, Wilner Fevrier and Louiner Fevrier; his cousins, Gasmite Damise, Jean-Marie Michel, Nono Michel, Nonsan Antoine and Mrs Nonsan Antoine, Meritha Geffrad, Merena Charles, Metania Charles; his best man, Louinel Charles; numerous nieces and nephews; his close friends, Pasteur Josue Jean, Pasteur Jude Valerie, Pasteur Exavier, sister Diedudla Hypolite and her family, and “les frères et seurs du L’ eglise Tabernacle de Dieu en Chrits, Mission d’ Evangelist du Christianist and Tricity Haitian Church.” He is preceded by his mother, Louise Damise; his father, Alexis Michel; Finnis Michel and Alvy Michel.
