The family of Mary Elizabeth Moe sadly announces her passing on June 11, 2024 at the age of 65 after a four-month struggle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (a rare and rapidly progressive neurological disease with no available treatment). Mary was born on December 3, 1958 in St. Cloud, MN to Henry and Marcella Gross. She graduated from St. Cloud Apollo High School in 1977. She went on to earn a degree in dental hygiene from Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN.

Her first job was in Golden Valley, MN, during which time she met her future husband, Terry Moe. He was completing dental school at the University of Minnesota and upon graduation in 1986, returned to Fargo to take over the dental practice of Dr. Calvin Wipf. Mary soon moved to Fargo and they were married in 1989. Mary was employed by Dr. Ron McClure for five years until the birth of her first child, Eric, in 1992. Her daughter, Karen, was born in 1994. After the birth of their children, Mary became a fully engaged mother and homemaker from then on. Raising kids, keeping a tidy house, and outings with friends—it was her perfect life!

She came to love lake life on Fish Hook Lake in Park Rapids, MN surpassed only by watching her kids excel at their respective sports of baseball and tennis. She watched countless games and matches over the years. She was one proud momma! Mary’s other passion was baking. She could not go more than a few days without baking either banana bread, almond poppy seed bread, or chocolate chip cookies. All were well renowned. Mary had a small group of very close friends who she cherished spending time with regularly. Pop-up dinner parties were a common occurrence.

Mary was rock solid in her Christian faith and did not fear dying. She knew where her eternal home would be. She was only sad about all of the fun times she was going to miss out on, particularly the upcoming birth of her first grandchild, due in September. She was an active member of Calvary Fargo Church and taught Sunday school and AWANA youth classes for many years. She participated in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) for more than 15 years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and father- and mother-in-law, David and Carolyn Moe. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Terry Moe; her son, Dr. Eric Moe of Minneapolis, MN; her daughter, Karen (Elijah) Johnson of Sartell, MN; her sister, Elaine (Dan) Cotton of St. Cloud, MN; and her brother-in-law, Kevin (Jenny) Moe of West Chester, OH.

A funeral service will be held at Calvary Fargo Church at 4575 45th St S Fargo, ND on Friday, June 28, 2024. There will be a visitation at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am.
