Mary Ekstrom, 68, Baltimore, MD, died September 30, 2020 in her home.
Mary was born in Baltimore, MD on November 11, 1951 to Frank X. and Ruth (Gorman) Oswald. She attended many schools in Baltimore and graduated from Northern High School in 1969. She attended NDSU from 1991 – 1994.
Mary married Rik Ekstrom in 1977 in Williamstown, MA. She was the business manager for Ekstrom & Associates from 1975 until Rik’s death in 2005.
Mary was elected to the ND House of Representatives for District 11 (Fargo) in 1998 and served until her retirement in 2010. She was also the Office Manager and Pre-Planning Consultant for Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home.
Mary is survived by her step-children: Rurik (Annie) Ekstrom, Lisa Ekstrom (Toby Paige) and Ingrid Ekstrom (Marty McCutcheon); siblings, Elizabeth (Eric) Pollack, Joseph Oswald, John (Cam) Oswald and Ann DuCote; 4 step-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Betty Kordell and brother, Jim Oswald.
A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations should be made to the YWCA Women’s Shelter.
