Mary Berg

Mary T. Berg, 98, of Fargo, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN. Mary T. (Maria Tealina) Rud, Wiseman, Berg was born Oct. 31, 1908 in Peterson, Mn to Bergit (Landsverk) and Martin Gulbrand Rud, the 3rd of their 7 children. She spent just a few months in Minnesota before traveling with the young family to the Turtle Mountains in ND to her mother’s homestead. At age 5 the family moved to Minot, ND where she grew to adulthood. In 1929 she was united in marriage to C. Dayle Wiseman in Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with 3 daughters. In 1938 the family moved to Fargo, ND and joined Pontoppidan Lutheran Church. Dayle passed away in 1961. Mary worked in the retail world, at Woolworth’s in Minot, Sears, Herbsts’ in downtown Fargo, and her favorite, Masse’ Grocery with the wonderful Simone and Napoleon Masse’ on 8th St N, and finally Grants at Northport, merchandising, selling, and buying. After Dayle passed away she spent the next 15 yrs working, traveling to family in California and enjoying her grandchildren. In 1976 she married Harold Berg and they spent the next 11 yrs at their homes in Scottsdale, AR, and Cormorant Lake, MN and traveling. Harold passed away in 1987. Mary loved and excelled in Interior Decorating, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking and entertaining friends and family. She was “gramma Honey” to 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 infant brothers, both husbands, 1 grandchild Timm Cusick and 1 great-grandchild, Tyler Cusick. She is survived by 3 daughters, Lois Cusick, Fargo, ND, Gayle (Gordon) Benz, Arvada, CO, Sharon (Bernell) Gardner, Williston, ND; 11 grandchildren, Terry and Toby Cusick, Fargo; Tracey (Don) DeMorett, Danielle, Tristan, Allison, Maple Grove, MN; Mary Benz, Littleton, CO; Sue (Hal) Teiken, Sara, Michael, Frazee, MN; Tom (Julie) Benz, Richard, Joshua, Denver, CO; Marshall (Jennifer) Benz, Halley, Mikayla, Parker, CO; Carrie (Jason) Zboralski, Centennial, CO; Greg (Irja) Gardner, Che’, Jarrell, Trevor, Mound, MN; Ann (John) Piepkorn, Anders, Gunnar, Minnetonka, MN; Wade (Amber) Gardner, Colton, Brecca, Declan, Hammond, WI; and Timm Cusick’s son Toy Cusick, Fargo; and special nephew Bob (Helen) Rud and family. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to MeritCare’s Miracle Network. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
