Mary Ann Huebener, 79, of Fargo, ND died on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Villa Maria Nursing Home. She was born on November 17, 1936 in Crookston, MN to Clarence and Olga (Stephenson) Engelstad. Mary Ann grew up on the family farm near Fertile, MN. She attended elementary school in one-room schoolhouses, often having her mother as a teacher. She graduated from the Fertile High School in 1954. Mary Ann also attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis and received her LPN degree from the Swedish Hospital of Minneapolis in 1956. She enjoyed her nursing years at the Bethesda Hospital in Crookston and St. John’s Hospital in Fargo. She was known for her ability to teach the younger nurses and her encouragement to work as a nursing team. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND and did volunteer work for the Mental Health Association.
In 1976, Mary Ann was joined in marriage to David Huebener. They made their home in Fargo. David died in 2008. Mary Ann moved to Villa Maria Nursing Home in 2009. She loved her Villa Maria family and truly felt at home there. She had a deep faith that was apparent in her positive outlook on life. She showed the Lord’s love every day of her life and was a true prayer warrior. May God bless our memories of Mary Ann.
Mary Ann is survived by her brothers, Maurice (Lillian) Engelstad, Bloomington, MN; Clayton Engelstad, Mentor, MN; Myles (Ruth) Engelstad, Coon Rapids, MN; Sister-in-law, Marlys Engelstad, Florence, AL; 15 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; special family member, Hope Heller and special friend, Margaret (Peggy) Seeb. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Orvis Engelstad, and sister-in-law, Carole Engelstad.
